Calibre Chemicals acquires RheinPerChemie from Evonik Industries

Stuttgart, September 22, 2022 - The auditing and consulting firm Ebner Stolz has advised Calibre Chemicals Pvt Ltd., India (Calibre) with a multidisciplinary team on the acquisition of all shares in RheinPerChemie GmbH (RPC).
Calibre, an Everstone Capital controlled portfolio joint venture with the founder, Ranjit Bhavnani’s family, is a specialty chemicals company that manufactures products for customers in the nutrition, pharmaceutical, personal and consumer care, industrial and aerospace markets. Calibre is one of India's largest manufacturers of persulfates, perchlorate and iodine derivatives. The company is a preferred partner for customers in over 100 countries.
Singapore-based Everstone Capital, the private equity arm of Everstone Group, is one of Asia's leading investment firms focused on investing in businesses that have a nexus to India and Southeast Asia. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Singapore, the firm manages approximately USD 7 bn in assets.
Since February 2020, RPC has been part of Evonik Industries AG, one of the global market leaders in specialty chemicals. RPC was founded in 2002 following the sale of the Rheinfelden production site by Degussa AG to Unionchimica S.p.A. RPC's products, mainly ammonium persulfate and sodium persulfate, are used in environmental protection, oil and gas production, pulp and paper, chemical synthesis and other industrial and consumer applications.
With the acquisition of RPC, Calibre becomes a global full-service persulfates supplier while expanding its position in the European market. The acquisition of RPC will enable Calibre to offer customers best-in-class products and services especially in the key markets of Europe. Calibre plans to further strengthen manufacturing at RPC and add new persulphates capacity in other geographies.
Ebner Stolz handled the relevant financial, tax and legal aspects of this transaction and the preceding due diligence with a multidisciplinary approach from a single source. In addition to the financial, tax and legal due diligence, Ebner Stolz also supported the entire process up to the signing of the purchase agreement.
