Peer Review

Qua­lity has to be up to snuff – and that goes for an au­di­tor’s ser­vices too. That’s why ac­coun­tants and au­di­tors, to­ge­ther with their com­pa­nies, must un­dergo ex­ter­nal qua­lity con­trol, also known as “peer re­view.”

Ac­coun­tants, au­di­tors and their com­pa­nies are al­lo­wed to per­form le­gally man­da­ted au­dits of fi­nan­cial state­ments only if they re­gu­larly un­dergo this qua­lity con­trol them­sel­ves and can pre­sent cer­ti­fi­ca­tion of their par­ti­ci­pa­tion no la­ter than the time when they ac­cept an au­dit en­ga­ge­ment. The Cham­ber of Ac­coun­tants and Au­di­tors (Wirt­schaftsprüfer­kam­mer) can al­low ex­cep­ti­ons only in spe­cial ca­ses.

Ea­sier data trans­fer to the U.S. - EU Com­mis­sion ad­opts EU-U.S. Data Pri­vacy Frame­work

On July 10, 2023, the EU Com­mis­sion si­gned its ade­quacy de­ci­sion for the data pro­tec­tion frame­work agree­ment bet­ween the EU and the U.S., the so-cal­led EU-U.S. Data Pri­vacy Frame­work. This me­ans that there is an ade­quate le­vel of data pro­tec­tion for the trans­fer of per­so­nal data to U.S. com­pa­nies that have cer­ti­fied them­sel­ves un­der the new Pri­vacy Frame­work.  ...read more
